Meteorite Men: Series 1
Watch the Meteorite Men travel the continent in search of some of history's most famous meteorites. From Arizona to hunt down the famous "Tucson Ring" meteorite, to Ash Creek, the site of the most recent recorded meteorite fall in the US, and to Canada to uncover the amazing Buzzard Coulee Meteorite--Geoff and Steve are out to show us what meteorites can tell us about our past.
Brenham Kansas
In this first episode of the Meteorite Men series, we’re introduced to modern-day meteorite hunters, Geoff Notkin and Steve Arnold, who search for these alien treasures and lost pieces of our universe. Notkin and Arnold have traveled the world for years to search for remnants of ancient meteorites.
The Tucson Ring
In the 1850s a Mexican farmer came across a huge meteorite in Arizona. It became known as the "Tucson Ring" and now resides at the Smithsonian. In this episode, Arnold and Notkin search for more pieces in an attempt to solve one of the biggest mysteries in the world of meteorite hunters.
The Odessa Iron Meteorite
Approximately 50,000 years ago a giant meteor created one of only two craters in the U.S. that have produced meteorite specimens. In this episode, Steve and Geoff will be hunting on the land surrounding the crater with their new cutting-edge detectors.
West Texas
Ash Creek is the site of the most recent recorded meteorite fall in the United States (February 15, 2009) with a daytime fireball recorded on camera. In this episode, Geoff and Steve will follow clues provided by the locals to uncover the mysterious rocks of this fall.
Gold Basin
In 1995, Professor Jim Kriegh discovered a field of ancient stone meteorites, while prospecting for gold. Dr. Kriegh discovered the Gold Basin Meteorite-known as the best mapped strewn field in history. In this episode, Geoff and Steve get exclusive access to hunt meteorites in uncharted areas
Buzzard Coulee and Whitecourt Crater
There is amazing footage of the nighttime fireball of the Buzzard Coulee Meteorite that fell in Canada, last November. The fall occurred just before a blanket of winter snow, so the meteorites are well preserved. In this episode, Geoff and search for pieces of this famous meteorite.
Dry Lake Bed
Dry lake beds are a great place to find new, never before discovered meteorites In this episode, the terrain of the bed provides spectacular visuals and high-speed action As Geoff and Steve cover as much ground as possible, looking for dark rocks against the light coloured sand
