剧情梗概：
考古遗址、墓葬知不知名？挖出来的宝藏值不值钱？ 这是当下很多人判断考古工作是否有意义的标准，也是大众决定关注考古项目与否的一种固有观念。但是，从考古学的角度来说，这种审视文化遗址和出土文物的视角是偏颇的，其带来的社会影响不但不利于考古工作，反而将人与历史、文明的距离越拉越远。 2020年9月28日，习近平总书记在十九届中央政治局第二十三次集体学习时强调：“要通过深入学习历史，加强考古成果和历史研究成果的传播，教育引导广大干部群众特别是青少年认识中华文明起源和发展的历史脉络，认识中华文明取得的灿烂成就，认识中华文明对人类文明的重大贡献，不断增强民族凝聚力、民族自豪感。” 2021年是中国考古学诞生100周年。为纪念这个特别的年份，总台央视纪录频道以深度纪实、层次丰富的人文故事为主体，打造出五集考古类纪录片《发掘记》。在中国，每年春、夏、秋三季，是考古工作主要的发掘期。考古人将进入发掘现场持续工作的这段时间称为：“发掘季”。而在一旁陪伴着整个发掘季，用镜头见证其珍稀历程的纪录片，则形成巧妙的双关语义——《发掘记》。 伴随着整个发掘季，全片用镜头记录下了考古人的完整工作过程。在展现考古工作学术、人文、社会价值的同时，该片也独具匠心地从“人”的视角出发，每集围绕一支考古队、一群考古人展开，深度呈现每一个遗址、每一件文物背后，这些真正让历史和文化活起来的鲜活群体。 根据年代的跨度、考古类型的不同，《发掘记》分别选择了新石器时期的平粮台遗址、春秋时期晋国贵族墓葬群遗址、秦汉时期栎阳城遗址、辽代辽上京遗址和甲午沉舰定远舰遗址。在第一集中，带领我们进入发掘现场的是一群来自北大考古文博学院的在读学生，长达四个月的田野实习是他们从课堂走向实际发掘的重要一步，经历了真正的发掘，有些人会选择离开，有些人则从此走上考古之路。在第二集里，一群从业三十多年的资深考古工作者和古代盗墓者展开了激烈的博弈，当考古队满怀希望对唯一没有盗扰痕迹的37号墓展开发掘时，仍旧发现了隐藏颇深的古代盗洞，在发掘现场，我们看到了理想和现实的悲喜交织。第三集中的发掘现场是已经持续发掘了40年的栎阳城遗址，“商鞅变法”就发生在这里。从发掘出的文物中我们看到，秦人从栎阳开始东方化，中国现实意义上的大一统就此发端。第四集中出现的辽上京遗址，曾是辽代的第一个都城。由于地处边地，考古环境十分艰苦，考古队要和时间赛跑，赶在每年的风季结束后和土地上冻前之间的四个月时间里抓紧发掘。当精美的古城在考古人的手铲下一点点显露，一个和我们认知上全然不同的游牧民族的历史也在辽阔的大漠草原上铺陈开来。水下考古有着和田野考古完全不同的发掘方式，第五集记录了一支特殊的考古队，他们来自五湖四海。2020年，他们要完成对刘公岛甲午沉舰“定远舰”的考古调查。这片海域对中国人而言有着复杂的情感，随着越来越多文物的出水，一百多年前的那场惨烈的战争越来越真实地展现在我们面前。
